Animal Drawings

These drawings I did in our local Zoo in Carinthia. If you would like to learn drawing figures or animals drawing from life is a great method. You can also try an online life drawing tool: check out http://artists.pixelovely.com/ . There are many approaches in learning to draw. I think it`s good to knowsome basics and develop your own work from that. Matt Kohr at http://ctrlpaint.com/library/ made a great learning ressource on drawing and painting - it is a really great point to start, take a look at it :)

Glenn Vilppu Munich Seminar

I had the chance to take a class with the great Glenn Vilppu. Glenn offers also online classes andhis drawíng manuals and DVDs I cannot recommend highly enough. We had a wonderful time and learned a lot.

Last Spring I also did some Scifi Concepts. I love vehicles so I was focused on the design of the mining truck in the first picture.

Speed sketches

From time to time I do these little sketches ... they are very fun to do, because you can create a mood or a story with a few shapes, lines and colors.

Steampunk Women

These Characters I also started to developing in David Colman`s Character Design fundamental Class at CGMA. I thought first on a steampunk women like the one below, but at least I had much more fun with the fine ladies flying to their tea party.

Vehicle Sketches

As I love vehicles I draw them quite ofte as I can - here my brothers motorbike, a really nice machine.

These I did at the Austrian National day last october where you can see lots of vehicles of the austrian armed forces.

Stories

David Colman showed us how to stage a character in his class and these are my attempts. The stories are personal.

This homeless cat out in the cold was also done as an exercise for staging in Davids class. I like animals, we always had cats around when I was young, and Davids animal drawings are great inspiration for me.

Life Drawing

These lifedrawings I did last dezember. I love to do it, the interpretation of every pose, the experimenting with the medium is always fun.

Design from Life

In David Colman`s classabour character design we did this great exercise. First you are drawing the figure and analyze the pose, the you are doing a design from it.

I think it is important to study real lifeso you can base your designs on your own observation. In that way you can develop your artitic language based on your feeings,or observations.

After analyzing the geture I pushed it to communicate the story clearer. So it happened that I overpushed my design in the right bottom corner, you see the left arm will brake. David pointed this out and these tips are so helpul to me to improve.

Cowboys and -girls

These are some cowboys and -girls from last autumn. I based the cowboy character on Lee van Cleef, whose got a very intersting and expressive face.

Characters for the Lindworm Legend

I know its late since my last post, but school kept me quite busy. I did some Character Sketches for my Lindworm Legend in various styles to find a direction. The cartoony ones I did last fall in David Colmans Onlone Character Design Fundamentals class, which was fantastic.
